About the event
This in-person workshop at the College will explore how to work with protective magic, focusing on the cleansing and banishing practices of the grimoire tradition, the folk magic tradition and modern Pagan witchcraft.
From the evil eye and the curse for barrenness, to love curses and spells to render a man impotent, magical history is full of dastardly curses and counter-curses. This fascinating in-person workshop looks at some of the most popular curses in history and teaches you how to protect against them.
We will explore the various types of protective magic as laid out in the grimoire tradition and how they have evolved into the many forms used today. You will be guided through a few simple protection spells in the tradition of European folk magic. These include a traditional salt and water blessing, a herb sachet, a talisman and a witch bottle. From British traditional witchcraft and the grimoire traditions, we will also learn how to cast a protective circle.
You will leave this in-person workshop with a strong working knowledge of cleansing and protection magic, and you'll be confident in the practices that resonate most strongly with you.
All materials will be provided.
