This workshop will explore some of the most popular curses in history and how to protect against them. From the Evil Eye, to the Curse for Barrenness, from Love Curses to a Spell to render a man Impotent, magical history is full of dastardly curses and countercurses. Students will explore the various types of protective magic as laid out in the Grimoire tradition and how they have evolved into the many forms used today.

For the practical side of the workshop, they will be led through a few simple protection spells — in the tradition of European folk magic - a traditional salt and water blessing, a witch bottle, and from British Traditional Witchcraft and the Grimoire traditions, casting a protective circle.
